Lamayuru To Chilling Trekking

Tour Itinerary for  9 Days – 8 Nights

Destinations Covered: Leh – Shey – Thiskey – Hemis – Lamayuru – Wanla – Hinju – Sumda – Doksa – Dung

DAY 1 : Delhi

On arrival meeting and assistance at the Airport followed by the traditional welcome by garlanding and then escorted transfer to your hotel . Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel in Delhi.

DAY 2 : Delhi – Leh (Complete Rest for acclimatisation) (D)

After early breakfast Transfer to Domestic airport  for flight to Leh the capital of Ladakh spectacular mountain flight over Great Himalaya and one can see Karakoram mountains to the capital of Ladakh.On arrival at Leh airport meet and assist and transfer to hotel,today free to acculmatize the Leh altitude which is 3550 meters. Afternoon visit Leh Bazaar and enjoy this peaceful mountain surroundings and locals moving at slow pace and village women selling local farming produce. Dinner & Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3 : Leh – Shey – Thiksey – Hemis – Leh  (B/D)

On this day you will go a sightseeing trip to some ancient monasteries in this area.such as Hemis Gompa, Thiskey ,Shey:Shay palce with 7.5 meter high copperstatues of Buddha plated with gold ,it was bulit by king singee Namgyal in 17th century.  Thiksey Monastery  is on a Hill lock with Panorama view of River Indus and green fields and the Himalayan Mountains, fouunded during 15th century it is largest and arcitecturally most impressive gompa that has extrordings of images ,stupas and wall paintings of Buddha,iy houses an importane collections of Tibetan books in the library, Hemis  is one of the biggest gompa of ladakh and founded by Stagtsang a Tibetan Monk in 1630 AD during the regin of Sengee Namgyal King.during festival in Junecommermorating Padma Sambhav!s birthday,Lamas perform the Mask Dance in courtyard of the Gompa Returm back to Leh for Dinner & overnight at Hotel.

DAY 4 : Leh -Lamayuru (3-4hrs drive)- Wanla 3250 m (3-4 hrs) (B/L/D)

We drive from Leh in the morning towards Lamayuru (3 hrs) along the Indus River through Sham valley. Lamayuru monastery, was founded by Rinche Zangpo in the 10th century. This gompa is located amidst the massive mountains. The spectacular setting of this gompa and its renowned collection of carpets, thangkas and frescoes has been attracting many people over a long time. It is believed to be the oldest in central Ladakh. After visiting the Lamayuru Monastery, we pack our backpacks, watch the horses get ready and set off for our first day’s trek. After following the stream for some time, we will gradually move up to the small Pass of Prinkti La (3750m). We will the walk down a narrow gorge to the small village of Shilla, and the last 3 km will take us to Wanla 3250m).Dinner & overnight stay in Camp /Guest House.

DAY 5 : Wanla -Hinju 3720m (4-5 hrs)  (B/L/D)

In the morning after breakfast, we will Follow a dusty road we will reach the small village of Phenjilla (3410 m) and the scattered village of Uri .We will then walk through a narrow gorge until we reach a traditional Rangthak (flour mill) at the far end of the village. The trail will then cut through the village of Hinju (3720 m) roughly 2 km below our campsite in a yak herder ‘s encampment. Dinner & overnight stay in Camp.

DAY 6 : Hinju -Sumda Doksa 4430m (5-6 hrs) (B/L/D)

From the encampment we will continue along the trail and ascend the ridge below Kongskil La (4950m). If lucky we will get glimpses of some wild life. We will then climb gradually until we reach Kongskil La where we will be surrounded by dizzying views of the Karakoram and Stok ranges. Dinner &  Overnight at Camps.

DAY 7: Doksa – Dung Dung Chan la base 4430m(4-5 hrs)  (B/L/D)

After a short walk and a few river crossings, we will reach the village of Sumda Chenmo. From there we head towards the true left side of the valley, which provides a beautiful view of the village with its lush greenery. we will see Edelweiss and some of the other rare wild flowers of Ladakh. From the campsite, there is a splendid view of Konskila.  Dinner  & Overnight at Camps.

DAY 8 : Dung Dung Chan La base – Chilling 3550m – (5 hrs)-Leh (B/L/D)

We will begin the day with a straightforward climb to Dungdung Chan La (4820m), which offers views of the beautiful vistas of the Stok Range in the east and the Zanskar Range in the south. From the pass the trail gradually descends down a ridge toward the valley continually tapering before reaching the village of Chilling. Chilling is the only village in Ladakh that has provided metalworks such as copper, bronze, tin, silver and iron to the Leh market through the centuries. From Chilling we will drive for about 3 hours along the Zanskar (SURU ) River .We will eventually reach its confluence with the Indus and the easy road back to Leh.check in Hotel for freshup, Dinner and overnight stay in Hotel.

DAY 9 : Leh-Departure  (B)

After early breakfast, transfer to Leh Airport for spectcular mountain flight to Delhi.
